Course

The Department of English offers Honours Courses and, under the Choice Based Credit System, offers several other courses like Skill Enhancement Course, Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses,Generic Elective and Discipline Specific Elective Courses in English.

Facilities

The Department doesn’t confine itself to the traditional classroom lectures and engages in activities like Multimedia Demonstrations, Students’ Seminars, Conferences and Special Lectures, Mock Teaching, Educational Excursions and Awareness Programs on Social Issues. The section on English in the Central Library is ever increasing and already offers a healthy number of books on the subject.

Research

The faculties of the department are engaged in active research works. They have research articles published (and forthcoming) in research journals of repute and books from reputed publishers. The department also engages in Ph.D research work in the form of research supervision as it is offered by Dr. Kalyan Chatterjee under the affiliation of the SKB University, Purulia.
