About
The Department of Hisotry, Government General Degree College at Manbazar-II was started its journey from 2015-16 academic session with commencement of our college. The department ensures a good deal of faculty student interactions and academic flexibility. Student evaluation is ensured by continuous internal assessment throughout the year. The Department is enriched with adequate number of text and reference books in college library. The Department is regularly organising Seminars, Popular Lecture, Special Talks and different awareness programs in various topics related to our societies, culture and understanding the historical interpretation of the civilisation.

The Department of History is offering both the Honours and Program Courses under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in UG level according to Syllabus and Curriculum ofSidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia.
Facilities
The department ofHistory is taking care of the students for their all-round development.The class room is facilitated with modern technologies for smooth functioning of teaching and learning. Department is enriched with adequate number of text and reference books in college library.
Research
The faculty members of the Department are actively engaged in research activities along with the teaching and learning process. The special interest in research is ‘The History of Modern India: Special Reference to Bengal’, ‘Social and Economic History’, ‘History of Health and Medicine in Colonial and Post-Colonial Bengal’, ‘Socio-cultural History of South West Bengal’, ‘Culture of Manbhum’ etc.
