About
The Department of Chemistry, Government General Degree College at Manbazar-II was started its journey on and from 2015-16 academic session with commencement of our college. This department is situated at the ground floor of this college with one laboratory and one store cum seating room. The laboratory is well equipped with required furniture, glass wares, chemicals and instruments and the class room is well furnished with modern facilities. The department ensures a good deal of faculty student interactions and academic flexibility. Student evaluation is ensured by continuous internal assessment throughout the year. The Department is enriched with adequate number of text and reference booksin college library. The Department is regularly organising Popular Lecture, Special Talks and different awareness programs in various topic of Chemistry.

Course
Currently the Department of Chemistry is engaged in undergraduate teaching (Programme Course only). Our future plan is to start B.Sc Chemistry Honours Course from upcoming academic sessions. The intake capacity in Programme Course isfourty.Syllabus: Prescribed Syllabus of Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia.
Facilities
The laboratory is well equipped with required furniture, glass wares, chemicals and instruments along with water and LPG connection. The class room is facilitated with modern technologies for smooth functioning of teaching and learning. Department is enriched with adequate number of text and reference books in college library. There are facilities of running water and well furnished toilets.

Research
The Department is engaged in research activities on basic and contemporary area, relevant to the society. The major research field encompass interdisciplinary area such as Synthetic Inorganic Chemistry, Magneto-structural correlation, Supramolecular Chemistry, Anion Recognition, Salt Extraction, Catalysis etc.
